4 Tips To Crush On Black Friday And Cyber Monday For eCommerce Stores

It’s the beginning of November which means Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming rapidly! 🏴

I hope everybody is waiting with some rock solid promotional strategy to get the maximum out of them.

Needless to say that these days are amongst the most profitable ones for any eCommerce business for the whole year. Last year, in 2017, American consumers spent almost $20 billion just online. 💸

And guess what? This number is growing every year! 📈



It would be so stupid not to prepare for it and leave your piece of the pie on the table for somebody else…



Here are 4 strategies that I am using with my clients that always came with a massive success.

1️⃣ Increase Email Frequency

Every store is sending promotional and discount emails for these two days which means everybody is suffocating from emails. If you raise the emailing frequency that can put you back on top in your subscriber’s inboxes.

Moreover, on the days of BF and CM, it’s a good tactic to send out two or three emails even. One in the morning and one in the evening for example.

2️⃣ Build Anticipation

Don’t start promoting too late!

Build anticipation and urge for buying by notifying subscribers with at least two weeks in advance that you’ll be offering promotions. Make sure that you constantly remind them for the big days. 🛒

3️⃣ Create Urgency

It’s really important to create a sense of urgency in your buyers even on BF and CM.

You may know that urgency can increase sales by 330%!

Highlight scarcity in your emails with something like: „Because of the high demand we are going to run out of stock soon.”

4️⃣ Use Facebook for non-openers 📫

You will be surprised that inactive subs can be super responsive for social ads.

If your ESP has the option (if you are using Klaviyo this won’t be a problem) sync the lists of people, who didn’t open any of your BF and CM promotional emails, with Facebook.

Using this custom audience you can reach those people who are not really often check their inbox.

Test your emails before sending them

These promotional emails are full of words like „discount”, „buy”, „for sale”, etc. It’s a pretty well-known fact that these terms are huge enemies of spam filters, unfortunately.

Try software like GlockApps or Litmus to make sure your emails are not going to the spam folder so you won’t have unwanted surprises that can costs you a lot!
